Dr. Joyce Farrell is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University and the Executive Director of the Stanford Center for Image Systems Engineering. She has more than 30 years of research and professional experience working at a variety of companies and institutions, including the NASA Ames Research Center, New York University, the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, Hewlett Packard Laboratories and Shutterfly. She is also the CEO and founder of ImagEval Consulting, LLC.
报告内容：
Imaging systems, including displays, printers, cameras, image processing, and AR/VR systems, have played an important role in advancing science, engineering, and society. The impact of imaging systems will only grow as they are combined with machine learning and artificial intelligence. To design an effective imaging system requires expertise in many different ideas, including light fields, optics, sensor capture, image processing, and image rendering. The complexity of these systems, and the expense of building prototypes, have motivated us to develop software tools for virtual prototyping. We describe our progress in building a software simulation environment, and we illustrate several example applications in consumer photography, 3D surround video, underwater imaging and autonomous vehicles.
