Abstract: Layered materials with a wide range of different photonic and optoelectronic properties represent an attractive proposition for flexible photonic and (opto)electronic devices. I will briefly discuss inks and composite systems of various 2-dimensional layered materials and their printability towards applications. This will be followed by several (opto)electronic applications using graphene, the most established ink platform to date. I will also introduce our latest results on high speed printing of functional graphene inks on a commercial flexographic printer that could be the key to economic, disposable electronics and sensors on a wide variety of flexible substrates. I will conclude with a future vision in terms of technologies, devices and systems evolving from these materials.
Dr. Tawfique Hasan is an assistant Professor (University Lecturer in UK) in Electronic Materials and Devices and Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow in the Nanoscience Centre and the Nanomaterials and Spectroscopy Group of the Engineering Department. He is Director of Studies in Engineering and a Title A Fellow of Churchill College, Cambridge. He gained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cambridge. Hasan’s current research focuses on formulation of functional 1- and 2-dimensional nanomaterial inks for a wide range of printable and flexible applications including ultrafast lasers, printable and flexible (opto)electronic, sensing and energy etc. Hasan has over 50 articles with ~6500 citations and an h-index of 27.
